I am a sucker for a cheap makeup product that actually works and on my weekly Aldi shop, I discovered what I can only describe as a Liz Earle hot cloth* dupe. Im not gonna lie, I feel like as a blogger, I should be knees deep into a skincare routine by now- but truth is, my skin has survived the last 20 years without using expensive face masks and cleansers and why fix what aint broken?
After being *abit* hesitant as to whether or not I should pop it in the trolley, I decided to give it a go. Im not gonna lie, my normal skincare routine is a quick makeup wipe over my face and then a generous helping of Superdrug’s own vitamin E leave on mask, but during the winter months my skin really does go through it and I thought now is a time more than ever to buck up my ideas and give my skin some much needed attention. *lets also mention the effect makeup wipes have on our planet. Got. To. Go.
The Hot Cloth Cleanser retails at £3.99 and states to “gently cleanse to reveal naturally healthy looking skin”. It contains loads of natural ingredients, can be 100% recycled AND its cruelty free! Go onnnnn Aldi!!

The cleanser comes with a muslin cloth and the instructions are very simple –
- Apply cleanser
- Soak cloth in very hot water
- Lay cloth over face to open pores
- Use the cloth to wipe the cleanser off
- finally, splash face with cold water to close pores
The cleanser 100% feels like a clay, and its nice because it warms up a little from the warmth of the water/your hands. The product is a lot thicker than the Liz Earle one*, which actually makes it feel a little drying once wiped off the face and you definitely only need a small amount- certainly does the job when it comes to removing makeup and cleansing your face.
I don’t use mascara and even when I wear eyeliner, my lash lady would drop dead on the spot if she knew I’d been using any form of oily substance near my Russians; so I cannot vouch for how the cleanser removes eye makeup, BUT my ItCosmetics CC cream* fuses to my face and refuses to move from the moment I put it on and this cleanser seems to remove it straight away. 10/10.
For £3.99 you can’t go wrong really, the product looks and feels so luxurious and really does leave you with Glowy skin. I can’t recommend enough!
